Nobody chooses when to get ill. That’s why patients need access to healthcare professionals outside of regular working hours.
In North Kirklees, GP practices work together to make evening and Saturday appointments available for those who need them.
If you are unable to attend a weekday daytime appointment, then an appointment in the evening or on Saturday can be offered to you.
Booking your appointment is simple and starts with speaking with the reception at your registered GP practice.
The service covers the whole of North Kirklees, and anybody who is already registered in a North Kirklees practice can book into the ‘Enhanced Access’ service – your practice receptionist can find a slot to suit you.
Our opening hours are:
You can also ring 01924 925517 during the service opening hours to book an appointment.
We currently have 3 Enhanced Access Centres in North Kirklees: (Please note these sites are not ‘Walk-in Centres’)
Once your appointment is booked, you can attend the centre and seek advice from a GP or from an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) who is able to conduct health assessments, suggest treatments and write prescriptions. If you have ongoing needs such as dressing changes, diabetes, asthma or hypertension review this can also be arranged with one of the nurses. We also provide a Phlebotomy clinic in the evening and occasionally on Saturday’s.
If a follow-up appointment is needed, we can liaise with your own GP and this is done automatically thanks to your shared digital patient record.
Very good for people who work and can’t get in at their practice
I am very grateful to have seen a GP today as my GP was not available
It’s good to know that we can see a doctor on the weekend instead of going to hospital.
